Picture of the Week
We've got so many pictures of our beautiful zebu that we just can't post them all on our website, so.....we've decided to share them with you in a different way. Every couple of weeks or so we're going to post a new picture and a brief description so that you can learn a little more about our zebu family and the breed in general. We hope that you enjoy this section as you get a glimpse into the life of the world's smallest breed of cattle, the miniature zebu.

"Hey, did you hear, Domino's been sleeping around...He got caught sniffing Sally and licking Daisy B...he's such a hunk though, who could blame him."
Miniature zebu have personality, and I'm not just doting on them. Each one of them has a unique character, and if you spend much time with them, you'll notice that they express themselves through their actions and behavior. They play with each other, they are affectionate with each other, they defend one another.
I watched Rambo very gently teach Justin how to "be a man". He showed him how to place his forehead against his own and gently shove back and forth. He would stop, take a break, then show him again. It was obvious that it was not rivalry, nor a show of dominance. The obvious gentleness and patience we got to witness reflected an intelligent purpose to his actions.
The breeds of humped cattle are a different species all together than the European beef breeds, and they are believed to be much more intelligent. Try adding a few zebu to your farm and you'll see what I mean.

Meet one of our new favorites, "Sundae". She is an incredibly beautiful heifer that will definitely be a keeper in our herd. She looks like somebody has just poured caramel sauce all over vanilla ice cream (hence the name).
After 7 straight bull calves, she has broken the "boy" streak we've had going for a while. It's a nice change.
The greatest thing about the Swede bloodline that we have tried to build our herd around is that the color variations are endless. You never know what you'll get! All of our calves, regardless of their appearance, have the genetics to produce calves just like this.
If you think this girl is as cool looking as we do, consider introducing some of Domino's bloodlines into your herd. You won't be disappointed.

If you haven't already noticed by viewing our website, we are very proud of our herd sires, especially Domino, pictured here. While he is not the only red & white miniature zebu on the planet, I am confident that he is the only one with a complete combination of spectacular characteristics.
One of the most unique features he possesses is a very heavy, horizontal set of horns. Many bulls have horns that are wide at the base and grow narrower at the top. Domino's horns remain heavy and wide for their full length, a very unusual trait. The other element of his horns that are so unique are their horizontal growth. I have never even seen a picture of another animal that has horns quite as "masculine" and "regal" in appearance. If you are looking for animals with the potential to offer superb appearance and breed character, look no further than Domino's offspring.
In this picture, you'll notice that Domino and some of his gals curiously take a peak around the "rump" of another zebu gal. He stands noble and proud in the midst of his treasured herd. He is such a good protector that recently when a full grown brahma bull broke down the fence and got into his pasture, Domino, at roughly 1/4 his size, valiantly fought him head to head until he finally ran him out of the pasture. We hope that his offspring carry on the great characteristics of their daddy.
